Hat tip: Dawn Eden!

A well-regarded Catholic elementary school in Chinatown, Transfiguration School, is holding a fundraiser in a couple of weeks and has apparently chosen as its theme, "Celebrating the New York Woman." Sounds like a theme with great possibilities. Maybe they'll offer a tribute to Elizabeth Ann Seton? Or perhaps to Sr. Mary Elizabeth, S.V., the Director of the Archdiocese's Family Life Office? Nope. According to its website, the night's top honoree is none other than Christine Quinn, the Speaker of the New York City Council.

This is the same Christine Quinn who a couple of weeks ago endorsed Gov.Patterson's gay marriage bill in the strongest possible terms,
attacking opponents as "that minority of people who have become too vocal and too listened to." The same Christine Quinn who introduced the Abortion Clinic Access bill that was signed into law by the Mayor last week and which had been strongly opposed by Cardinal Egan and by the Archdiocese's Family Life Office.

The same Christine Quinn who called the Supreme Court's upholding of the Partial Birth Abortion Act, "a dark day for women's health."

It's mystifying that a Catholic grammar school would honor Quinn for her "Public Service," given that radical record. I can't imagine that Archbishop Dolan would approve, given that he called ND's decision to honor the Prez "a big mistake," but who knows anymore. It seems that Catholic identity and teaching is being watered down everywhere, and by the very institutions that should be the bulwark.

Just a reminder:
Barack Hussein Obama, Joseph Biden and Nancy Pelosi are all products of Catholic parochial schools.
Is it time for Catholic Schools Week yet?

I believe and profess all that the holy Catholic Church believes, teaches and proclaims to be revealed by God.
